Hours: Full-time, 35h (5 day week) with 2-month trial period
Salary: £24,000-£32,000 per annum depending on experience

We are looking for a full-time Software Engineer to join our growing team. We are Edinburgh-based but currently working remotely so welcome applications from elsewhere in the UK.
Wallscope’s team of Knowledge Engineers builds products and solutions for organisations looking to leverage Knowledge Graph technologies to make sense of their data. We use Machine Learning and Semantic Technologies to create Knowledge Graphs and Linked Data applications. Our software stack includes Natural Language Processing and Named Entity Recognition technologies for data mining and relationship mapping - making information contextual and highly deliverable in diverse formats.
Your main responsibilities will involve working as part of the development team to build, test and maintain the software stack. You will report to the Technical Director and Lead Developer.
Skills and experience
We are looking for an individual who is interested in making a difference with data with a willingness to learn and an enthusiasm for the ever-evolving AI landscape. This role requires teamwork, the ability to work independently and an innovative approach to development.
Experience must include:
- HTTP/web development (server-side)
- Programming experience
- Previous work in Linux environments
- Basic knowledge of Docker and container architectures
Preferred (knowledge of one or more of these areas is desirable):
- Knowledge Graphs (RDF, Linked Data)
- Deploying to cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Use of Machine Learning models in production environments (particularly NLP)
- Experience in front end web development
- Experience using GitHub, Slack
